In this 2 hour session, you’ll learn how to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off while working on a small square. We’ll move step by step, with time to ask questions and practice.

From there, we’ll show you how that simple piece can be shaped and finished into something small—a bunny or another simple form—offering a first look at how knitting becomes object.

This class is designed for complete beginners, or anyone returning to knitting and looking to refresh the essentials.

Materials are included. Each participant will receive a pair of Clover bamboo knitting needles (US 6) and enough yarn to complete their piece and continue working at home.

Join Helen O’Conner of Frenchtown Bookshop for a workshop on the foundations of invisible knitwear repair. You’ll learn how to fix seams, mend
runs, and restore moth-damaged areas using techniques designed to blend seamlessly into the fabric—so the repair is barely visible.

Working with premade knit swatches, you’ll practice essential stitching and mending skills to build confidence before tackling your own garments at home. All materials are provided.

Ever wondered what happens between the sheep and the skein?You've bought your first fleece, now what? Let's wash it and get it ready to spin! This 3-hour class will guide you through washing raw wool and the step-by-step process of fiber preparation. All equipment, supplies, and materials including fleece, soap, and hand carders will be supplied.

Anne Choi is a fiber artist raising a small flock of Shetland sheep in Bedminster, NJ. She teaches weaving, spinning, and dyeing with a focus on using natural, biodegradable materials and ecologically sustainable practices. Her workshops center the global heritage of textile handicrafts that precede colonization, and honor the cultural legacy of traditional artisans. Anne is the founder and executive director of NJ Fibershed, a nonprofit educational organization connecting local fiber producers and growers, particularly first-generation farmers, with fiber artists within New Jersey.

Introduction to Embroidery

Join us during Pride Week for an introduction to embroidery, conversation, and making together. Participants will create a small hand-embroidered piece featuring the phrase “You Belong Here” using a modern embroidery pattern and a thoughtfully assembled materials kit.

This beginner-friendly workshop is designed as a relaxed introduction to embroidery. We’ll cover basic stitches, how to transfer and follow a pattern, working with embroidery floss, and finishing your piece in the hoop. No prior experience is needed.

Each participant will receive a kit that includes fabric, embroidery hoop, needle, floss, pattern, and all materials needed for class.

A portion of proceeds from the workshop will be donated to HiTOPS, a local organization supporting LGBTQ+ teens and young adults.

Come spend an evening making something by hand in a welcoming and creative environment.

A small, guided workshop for knitters ready to move beyond
the basics.

In this three-part series, we’ll work through The Anker’s Sweater by PetiteKnit. You may choose to knit either the Anker’s Summer Tee or Anker Jr., using the project as a way to build confidence reading patterns and shaping a garment.

This class is best suited for those who know how to knit and purl, but are new
to garment construction. We’ll take the pattern step by step, learning how to read it, follow it, and make decisions along
the way.

Over three sessions, we’ll cover:

  • reading and understanding
    a pattern

  • sizing, gauge, and yarn selection

  • raglan increases and shaping

  • separating sleeves and working the body

  • finishing techniques and troubleshooting

This is a small class, with plenty of time for questions and individual guidance.

Supplies are not included, but all materials are available at the shop. We’re happy to help you select yarn and needles before the first session.
